Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 3-0
The London team achieved its first victory in the league after stumbling with two draws against Chelsea and Liverpool, and two losses against Bournemouth and Newcastle United in the last four rounds.
Arsenal, led by Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, celebrated their sixth win in the league this season, against four draws and two losses, raising the team’s score to 22 points, jumping to fourth place in the standings.
Arteta also managed to lead the Gunners to keep a clean sheet for the first time in the English Premier League this season, since beating Tottenham 1-0 in the London derby on September 15 in the fourth round.
Arsenal owes this victory to its English international star Bukayo Saka, who scored the first goal with a wonderful shot from inside the penalty area (15), scoring his fourth goal in the league this season.
Saka also created the second goal for his teammate, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, who shot a powerful shot from outside the penalty area to the right of Nottingham goalkeeper Mats Sels (52).
Partey rewarded his coach Arteta for bringing him on at half-time in place of Italian midfielder Jorginho with this goal.
Saka has continued his fine form this season, contributing to 13 goals for Arsenal in 16 games in all competitions, boosting the team’s morale ahead of their Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.
In the 86th minute, rising player Ethan Nwaneri scored Arsenal’s third goal after a perfect pass from his teammate Raheem Sterling.
As for Nottingham Forest , led by Portuguese coach Nuno Espirito Santo, they suffered their second consecutive loss and their third in the league this season, dropping to sixth place after their score froze at 19 points.
Nottingham put on a modest display at Arsenal’s home ground, and their goalkeeper Sels saved them from a heavy defeat after stopping other dangerous attempts, while the referee disallowed a goal by the visitors’ striker, Jota Silva (89), due to offside.
Nottingham will try to overcome this slump when they host promoted Ipswich Town in the next round in a week.
