Euskaraz irakuri: Baskoniak galdu egin du Euroligako play-offeko lehen partida, Real Madrilen aurka (90-74)
Baskonia lost, 90-74, against Real Madrid, this Tuesday night, at the WiZink Center in Madrid, in the first game of the Euroleague play-off of the 2023-24 season. In this way, Real Madrid have scored the first point of the series, which they now win 1-0, and both Baskonia and the Madrid team are already looking ahead to Thursday, which is when the second match of this play-off will be played.
Dusko Ivanovic’s men, in this context, have not got off to a good start in the duel they have begun to have with Real Madrid for a place in the Final Four in Berlin; but the play-offs have only just begun, and surely both the Baskonia coach and the squad have taken good note of what they can do to play their trump cards better in the second match. A win at the WiZink would give Baskonia home-court advantage, before the series arrives in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
In the first round, Real Madrid took the lead practically from the start, and claimed a clear victory. Baskonia had a chance until the break. The first quarter closed with 26-17, after the home team reached a maximum lead of 14 points, at 25-11, and the first half concluded with 48-37. The third quarter, in this sense, made the difference, as Real Madrid extended the gap to 70-53; the last ten minutes have not changed the course of the clash, and Baskonia, although they have not given up, have not had a chance to get closer on the scoreboard.
Markus Howard, with 15 points, depleted by a knee injury, has led Baskonia’s offense, well helped by Costello, Miller-McIntyre and Rogavopoulos, who have added 14.
On Thursday, the appointment is at 9:00 p.m., again in the pavilion where Real Madrid play their home matches.
