Cristiano Ronaldo breaks record in Saudi Pro League on final matchday

Ronaldo played with Al-Nassr against Al-Ittihad Jeddah, N’golo Kanté’s team. The Portuguese scored twice in the last game of the season. In doing so, he broke a record.

He scored the most goals ever in a single season in the Saudi Pro League. The old record was held by Abderrazak Hamdallah. He scored 34 times in the 2018/19 season.

For Ronaldo, the counter stands at 35 goals after Monday evening. He also provided 11 assists. The star player played 31 games in the league.

At the upcoming European Championship in Germany, Ronaldo will also continue to work on his records. The 39-year-old Portuguese is still in the selection. It will be his sixth time at a European Championship. In doing so, he tightens his own record.

Since 2004 he has been there every edition, making him the solo record holder with five participations since 2021. He played the most games and scored the most goals ever at the tournament. When he comes into action this summer, he will also break the record of oldest outfield player at a European Championship ever.

Whether the 39-year-old attacker will actually get that title behind his name, however, remains to be seen. Fellow countryman Pepe is two years older and is also ‘just’ in the selection. So there are records on the horizon for him as well. However, the main goal will be to win the tournament again, as they did in 2016.
