The British news agency (PA Media) reported that the Spanish Josep Guardiola , the team’s coach, revealed that the Portuguese international defender had suffered a muscle injury, which he felt in the final minutes of the team’s loss to Manchester United in the derby last week.

“After 75 minutes against Manchester United he felt something,” Guardiola said in a press conference

“He is strong and wanted to stay on the pitch, but now he is injured,” he added.

Guardiola also explained that Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson is doubtful for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

The news comes as City, who have lost eight of their last 11 games in all competitions and won just one, hope to start finding solutions to their injury problems
