Forward María España will not continue at the end of this season at IDK Euskotren and center Dulcy Fankam has left the team to sign for Seattle Storm, of the WNBA, as announced by the San Sebastian club in the last few hours.

In this context, the Gipuzkoa club loses two of its main references on the field, two important players in coach Azu Muguruza’s schemes. María España, on her departure, will have completed three seasons at IDK Euskotren, while Dulcy Fankam arrived at the Basque side in the summer of 2023.

The club has encouraged, through social networks, to give María España, “this Thursday, at the Gasca, the farewell she deserves”. IDK Euskotren alludes to the match that the Gipuzkoa team will play on their field, on Thursday, the 25th, within the play-offs for the Endesa League title; In the quarterfinals, Azu Muguruza’s side, who finished seventh in the regular season, will face Valencia Basket, the current champions, in the first leg. The clash will kick off at 8:00 p.m., and the second leg will take place on Sunday, the 28th, at 6:30 p.m.

As for Dulcy Fankam, IDK Euskotren has specified that she has already joined Seattle Storm, of the WNBA: “From the club, we want to thank her work, while she has been part of our team,” she said.
