Neymar suffered a hamstring injury during Al Hilal’s 3-0 win over Iran’s Esteghlal Tehran in the AFC Champions League on Monday.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain striker recently recovered from a cruciate ligament injury and came on in the 58th minute of the match in Riyadh, but the 32-year-old left the pitch three minutes before the end, apparently suffering a tear after extending his leg to reach the ball inside the penalty area.

Neymar played only 29 minutes against Esteghlal Tehran, after appearing for 13 minutes in his first match after returning from the first injury that lasted 385 days, against Al Ain of the Emirates

This means that he was out of action due to injury for more than a year, then played for 42 minutes before suffering a new injury.

The Brazilian star wrote via his Instagram story: “It’s normal for this to happen after a year. The doctors have already warned me, so I have to be careful.”

“I felt like it was a cramp but it was very strong. I will go for tests and I hope it is not a big problem,” he added.

There is still time for Neymar to recover before the team’s next match at the continental level, as he is not registered with the club in the Saudi League .

It is noteworthy that Neymar participated in only 7 matches with Al-Hilal since joining the team last season, and scored one goal.
