The French team achieved a difficult victory, over its Belgian rival, with a clean goal, in the round of 16 match of the European Cup “Euro 2024”, on Monday evening.
In a match described as “the least exciting” in the tournament by some social media followers, the meeting between France and Belgium in Dusseldorf was cautious.
After timid attempts from both teams, France succeeded in snatching the victory, in the 85th minute, after striker Kolo Moani’s shot hit the foot of Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen, to deceive the goalkeeper and enter the net.
France’s star-studded team continued to be criticised by fans for the Duke’s timid performance during the tournament.
France will face the winner of Portugal-Slovenia in the quarter-finals of the tournament on Friday evening.
